The
beef industry is committed to nutrition research. That commitment has
become the platform for all nutrition education materials and the focus of
the human nutrition research program. The Human Nutrition Research program
studies how beef fits in a healthy diet through investigating its role in
weight management, optimal body composition and metabolism; the natural
nutrients and lipids found in beef; and beef’s positive contribution to
diets consistent within the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Please visit
us at

A healthy diet and lifestyle are some of the best weapons for fighting
heart disease. A heart-healthy diet with moderate amounts of lean
protein such as lean beef can provide your body with the nutrients it
needs for optimal health. Many people are surprised to hear that beef
not only offers POWER in the protein but that many of your favorite cuts
of beef are lean and fit into a heart-healthy diet. For this reason the
Texas beef Council has partnered up with the American Heart Association
and it’s Go Red for Women Movement to educate woman about the benefits
of lean beef in a heart healthy diet. Did you know that there are
actually 29 cuts of beef that are LEAN, meaning they contribute less
than 200 calories, less than 10 grams of total fat, less than 4.5 grams
of saturated fat and less than 90 milligrams of cholesterol per 3-ounce
serving? Visit
www.goredforwomen.org today to learn how you can become involved
with the cause and support your local AHA in the fight against heart
disease. For many important health reasons, nutrition scientists are rediscovering the power protein. National nutrition guidelines recommend that protein intake make up 15-35 percent of the calories in our diets. The average American diet is currently only 15 percent protein, which means there is a lot of flexibility when it comes to increasing our protein intake and staying within expert recommendations. Current studies even suggest that diets rich in protein can help blood sugar control in people with type 2 diabetes. Adding some lean protein at every meal or as a snack can also help you feel satisfied longer. Join the Texas Beef Council in support of the American Diabetes Association's mission: To prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Learn how you can make a difference in the lives of more than 23.6 million Americans with diabetes by joining thousands of cyclists around the nation who are riding in Tour de Cure. Support your local ADA by visiting www.tour.diabetes.org to learn more about your local tour ride.
